WASSR provides support for the advocates working with us by:
- Ensuring that careful procedures are in place to ensure the personal safety of advocates going out to visit clients in their home.
- Providing the expertise of WASSR paid staff to enhance the knowledge and understanding of the advocate for example Lorraine Slee on dementia, Sarah Reilly on Housing and the years of experience in advocacy work of our Director, Irene Kohler.
- By ensuring that supervision of advocates takes place at regular intervals to provide feedback and support.
- By an extensive programme of training WASSR gives advocates the skills they need to do the job well. New training sessions are constantly offered meet the training needs advocates have identified - for example Welfare Benefits, Housing issues and Elder Abuse.
All of this is about ensuring that advocates are empowered to give the high quality service that older people in Westminster deserve
